Styal Lodge Exhibition

It is that time of year again and with a break from tradition At The Edge are holding their annual show at the very new Styal Lodge at Styal Golf Course. With the usual eclectic mix of exhibitors there will be something for everyone. So cast off the combined gloom of depressed Britain and our soggy weather and feed your creative soul. Cakes and sundaes always make me feel better, perhaps thats why I paint them so often.

New Paintings

Here are three new paintings around the theme of animal welfare and especially the freedom food guidlines for stocking densities and care of livestock. The paintings are a metre square and reflect the amount of space each animal is afforded in current welfare documentation. The amount of ducks you can have is dependent on how good your grass is. The duck with the shower( homage a Bacon) is about ducks needing to cover themselves in water for proper preening. When rabbits are farmed they are given a A4 sized space each. These three paintings are the begining of a series of new work.

Sunday 14 June 2009

Think the workshop went ok at Touchstones yesterday. It was quite calm with people staying in their gardens in the sunshine. The stencils seemed to work ok and i had lots of useful talks with the visitors and staff. Most importantly some good drawings were produced although i think maybe the paper was a bit big, lots of colouring in . Hope they have me back next year.

Exhibition Cafe Life Touchstones Rochdale Art Gallery

An exhibition of my food inspired paintings opened this week at Touchstones in Rochdale. Originally part of the Feel Good Festival the work is on display in the Cafe Life area of the gallery, not surprisingly in the cafe and information centre. I'm very pleased with how they look, the team at the gallery have done a great job and the paintings are on display until the end of July.
